Important Change to Ohio Board of Nursing Drug / Alcohol Screening Process

Published: Aug 18, 2021 by Levi Tkach

As part of their reinstatement and/or probation terms imposed by an Adjudication Order or Consent Agreement with the Ohio Board of Nursing, Ohio licensed nurses who are required to abstain from drug and/or alcohol are required to submit to random screening through FS Solutions. Effective September 1, 2021, there will be important changes to the process that nurses will need to follow to be able to check into their FS Solutions account each day to determine whether they have been selected to provide a sample that day for screening. Currently, a nurse is able to check in by phone or via the internet (which includes the FSS App for Smart Phones). Under the new system that will become effective September 1, 2021, nurses will no longer be able to check in by phone and they will only be able to check in via the internet (including the FSS App for Smart Phones).

Per the Ohio Board of Nursing:

“You will be required to enroll in the new system by August 13th.

If you need any assistance during your Enrollment, please reach out to the FSSolutions team at 833-476-1173 during business hours or e-mail at RMS@fssolutions.com.

It’s important to note that this new system requires you to log in through the website (participant.fssolutions.com) for your check-in message, rather than calling the toll-free number or using the mobile app.”

If you need a nursing license defense lawyer to assist you during an Ohio Board of Nursing investigation, with the Nursing Board’s hearing process or in complying with an Nursing Board Adjudication Order / Consent Agreement and/or if you have questions about the Ohio Board of Nursing, please call Jim McGovern at 614-228-5800, x2 for a no charge initial consultation.
